Ecuador 2021

Jun 25

Somewhere in South America

Puerto Ayora, Santa Cruz Island, Galapagos Islands, Ecuador

You don’t usually see one of these guys on the sidewalk in Phoenix but you’ll see it here in the Galapagos Islands… He is ok… that’s just what SEALs do… he just likes to come up on the sidewalk to get warm and take a nap.

June 26

Santa Cruz Island, Ecuador

Meet Brutis

June 27

Snorkeling here today I saw many types of colorful fish, a shark and I swam with three penguins. One of them bit me, he was just playing around, it didn’t hurt too much.

Atop the volcano

June 28

More adventures on the Galapagos Islands today… On the boat… Snorkeling here today. the highlight was swimming with a giant sea turtle… Low flying bird… Lots of crazy birds in Ecuador… This is clearly a pterodactyl… This could be a baby pterodactyl… The Galapagos Island blue-footed booby…

June 29

From Santa Cruz to Isabel Island… Snorkel time. I’ve snorkeled many places and seen lots of different types of sea life but today I swam with a giant sea turtle and some playful sea lions and a school of sharks that were all bigger than me… they were reef sharks oh, they prefer to eat small things without lots of bones. Apparently humans don’t taste so good…

Bike Trek across the Island… Hiking through the jungle I came upon a strange wall… turtle on the road… and a strange rare plant only found in the Galapagos ..lol…

Puerto Villamil, Isabel Island

June 30

Volcan Sierra Negra, Isabela Island, Galapagos

Bike Trek across the Island Isabel – It hasn’t stopped raining since last night. I had rented this wetsuit for my snorkeling adventure but it came in handy today for riding my bike across the island… Continuing my reviews of gyms across the world…More like a home gym but not bad for being in such a remote area…

Boats in the jungle… Boats in the lava field… Lots of huskies and husky mixes on this island. Almost all the dogs I’ve seen have had one blue eye and one Brown, even the ones that don’t look like Huskies at all…

Then this happened about an hour away from the closest Village. After walking for a while a garbage truck came by and gave me a ride back to my Village. People on this island are ridiculously nice.

Iguana Man

“Iguana crossing. Please drive slowly”

… and turtle crossing

Jungle hike, Puerto Villamil, Isabel Island

Isabel beach… We’ve lost the rising sun, the final sign…

July 2

That’s right! The world Traveler endorses sea lion neck pillows for flying long distance…lol

Quito

Room with a view

El Condor Pasa. In the Andes Mountains singing a melody based on traditional Andean folk music. Composed in 1913 except these lyrics written by Paul Simon in 1970

Hanging out in Quito, Ecuador. The city in the clouds… Buying a cool scarf from an indigenous woman… Shoe shine time; he did a good job for $2… the altitude is pretty hard this high.

jamming with the sax man of Quito… viola guy… lunch time music

In the middle of the world

Hill of the Virgin

Here is a song about freedom. Written by John Deacon Who besides being an excellent bass player is also an amazing songwriter, yet you don’t hear of him so often because he was so overshadowed by the very popular singer of his band.

David McNabb, Festival Director: “Scott Jeffers and his group, Traveler turned out to be the biggest hit of the first annual Prescott Celtic Festival . . . They have amazing energy onstage and are true showmen. They had the audience enthralled the entire time.”
